As Companies Committed to Care, our Treads & Threads sponsors invest in the future of our community by supporting the mission of the region’s premier academic medical center. Through their donations, these forward-thinking organizations help expand and enhance care for cancer patients, bringing more lifesaving options to the people of Kansas City and the region.

Beneficiaries of 2011 proceeds

In 2011, Treads & Threads proceeds will two areas: Clinical trials and Palliative care.

Every lifesaving cancer treatment we use today has at one time been a clinical trial. Part of our mission as an academic medical center is to provide our patients access to promising new medical approaches through clinical trials. Proceeds will help support and advance these trials, making them available to more patients.

Outpatient palliative care services can help manage and reduce symptoms for cancer patients with progressive illness. These services have been shown to lessen emotional distress and improve the overall cancer care experience for patients and their families. Proceeds will establish a pilot program to provide outpatient palliative care services.
