Cancer care at The University of Kansas Cancer Center

Providing patient care for The University of Kansas Cancer Center, The University of Kansas Hospital offers patients throughout the region the most comprehensive, medically advanced cancer care available. Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses and specialized staff offers diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for virtually every type of cancer – even the most rare.

Our cancer care team is dedicated to helping cancer patients and their loved ones through every step of their journey to battle this devastating disease. We’ve designed our cancer services to foster comfort, convenience and personalized care. Our patients benefit from the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques to fight cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. In addition, our staff provides education and a wide range of support services to patients and families.

Among the nation’s best cancer programs

Our cancer program has earned two consecutive Outstanding Achievement Awards from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, receiving the commendation in 2004 and again in 2007. We are the only teaching hospital cancer program in the Kansas City area to qualify for the prestigious honor for two consecutive periods.

We offer advanced cancer care at two locations on our main campus in Kansas City, Kan.: Inpatient cancer care and surgery are provided at The University of Kansas Hospital, with radiation oncology services at the Richard and Annette Bloch Radiation Oncology Pavilion.

Convenient outpatient care

Diagnostic and outpatient procedures are performed at the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Care Pavilion in Westwood, Kan. The state-of-the-art facility opened in 2007 at the corner of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Belinder Road. The new space was needed when patient volume in our outpatient cancer program increased 243 percent over a five-year period.

Our outpatient center provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care in a soothing, healing environment with patient care areas designed for privacy and comfort. Patients can see their physicians, visit the lab and receive tests or treatments in one convenient location.
